Intel has announced the release of OpenVINO 2022.1, a significant update aimed at enhancing AI inferencing performance for developers. With hundreds of thousands of developers already utilizing OpenVINO to implement AI workloads at the edge, Intel's latest version integrates feedback accumulated over three and a half years, reflecting a deep commitment to optimizing developer experiences.
Adam Burns, Vice President of OpenVINO Developer Tools at Intel, emphasized the substantial advancements in the new release. "The latest release of OpenVINO 2022.1 builds on more than three years of learnings from hundreds of thousands of developers to simplify and automate optimizations," Burns noted. "The upgrade introduces hardware auto-discovery and automatic optimization, allowing software developers to achieve optimal performance across every platform."
The updated OpenVINO adds a broader selection of deep learning models, enhances device portability, and boosts inferencing performance with minimal code changes. These improvements are designed to support novel deployment scenarios while the automatic optimization feature assesses the system's compute and accelerators, dynamically enhancing AI parallelism and load balance based on available compute and memory capacity.
OpenVINO is grounded in oneAPI, an open standard providing a unified application programming interface across various compute accelerator architectures, including GPUs, AI accelerators, and field-programmable gate arrays. OpenVINO is already employed by notable Intel clients like Hitachi, BMW Group, ADLINK, and American Tower, demonstrating its reliability and versatility. "With American Tower's edge infrastructure, Intel's OpenVINO deep learning capabilities, and Zeblok's AI platform-as-a-service, we can enable a complete smart solution for the market," commented Eric Watko, American Tower's VP of Innovation.
OpenVINO 2022.1 brings significant advancements, ensuring developers have the tools needed for innovative and efficient AI implementation.
